Ghorab School will have an enclosure wall
The construction of a school has always an important impact on its surroundings. The most immediate effect is normally the construction of an enclosure around the main building. It happened already in the past and it is happening in these days in Ghorab Valley, where we funded the construction of our ninth school. This time we are told by the local villagers that another NGO volunteered to raise the funds to build the wall. The NGO got the green light of Saighan Department of Education. As you can see from the picture below, it is already full work in progress and most probably the wall will be ready by the summer.
As Arghosha Committee, we do not fund the construction of enclosures because we are convinced that the school building is the most important piece of work and money has to be prioritised there. Besides, as it often happened in the past, others will take charge of it. Sometimes it is the local villagers that take the initiative. We think it is a good thing, as it stimulates the spirit of entrepreneurship of the local people who start looking after themselves once we have given the first big push by funding the building. They learn to rely more on their own strength and learn how to build a construction in stonemasonry following the example of the main building which was built with the help of local people who learned the skill. It is a virtuous circle and we are proud that we initiated it.
